Saint David was the founder of the homonymous monastery in Rovies, Evia, around the middle of the 16th century. A monk with unwavering faith and countless miracles, he managed, through his prayer, to cause water to gush from the ground with the blow of his stick, thus making the place habitable so that he could establish his monastery there.

This particular copy comes from a fresco painted by Dimitrios Vernezos in the Church of Saint John the Russian.
