DESCRIPTION
Saint Mary Magdalene was from Magdala in Galilee, hence Magdalene. She followed Christ and the Apostles and helped them in their work.
Mary was tormented by seven demons, from which Christ freed her and out of gratitude she became his devoted disciple. She followed him until his passion. She became a myrrh-bearer and was the first to witness the Resurrection of Christ when late at night she saw the angel who rolled the stone from the door of the tomb.
After the Ascension of the Lord, Mary Magdalene served the first Christian church, which was founded in Jerusalem, and after the Dormition of the Theotokos, she followed the evangelist John to Ephesus. There she fell asleep and was buried.
The entire Christian world celebrates her memory every year on July 22nd.
